Strategic Expansion into Germany’s Information Technology Market, Park Hyatt Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City
July 21, 2025 - The event focused on the evolving landscape of software within Germany and the European Union, providing practical guidance for information technology service providers seeking international expansion. As the global ITO market is rapidly transforming—driven by technological advancements and the integration of artificial intelligence—this workshop was both timely and highly pertinent. A central theme was the increasing importance of AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle, prompting providers to reassess their value propositions, delivery methodologies, and long-term preparedness.
Among the notable sessions, we acquired valuable insights into Germany’s role within Europe’s enterprise software ecosystem. Discussions emphasized Germany's strong endorsement of open-source solutions, its advantageous public procurement environment, and the mechanisms for accessing public tenders—critical factors for companies seeking to enter and expand within the German market.
The workshop featured two distinguished speakers. Professor Dr. Erik Wende, Honorary Professor at the University of Leipzig and Founder of the Institute for Digital Leadership, delivered an engaging discourse on how artificial intelligence is transforming Germany’s and Europe’s digital economy. With decades of experience in digital transformation, he provided strategic context and practical insights for service providers. Subsequently, Dr. Nguyen Chi Toan, Founder of Ways2Germany, presented a comprehensive overview of the German ITO market, explicitly outlining considerations Vietnamese companies must account for to achieve successful market entry. His extensive understanding of both Vietnamese and European business environments rendered the session particularly pragmatic and grounded in real-world expertise.
Throughout the event, several themes emerged that resonated profoundly: although the German market is highly competitive, it presents significant opportunities for providers offering specialized, context-aware services. Technical skills alone are insufficient; success necessitates a profound understanding of customer needs, compliance with European regulations such as GDPR and AI governance standards, and an active local presence to cultivate trust.
The event concluded with an engaging question-and-answer and networking session, providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and the cultivation of new relationships with industry peers and stakeholders. It was inspiring to observe many Vietnamese companies proactively exploring international expansion, united by a focus on innovation and quality.
We sincerely express our gratitude to Professor Dr. Erik Wende and Dr. Nguyen Chi Toan for organizing this valuable and effectively executed event. The insights and relationships developed will substantially influence our strategic approach as we explore opportunities within Europe. We anticipate further engagement and aim to contribute to the broader movement of cross-border collaboration in technology innovation.
